Welcome to Erk Pod episode 541. Erk’s June 2014 Wanderer continues. Erk is now in The People’s Republic Of Canadia, staying with a friend he met on 70000 Tons Of Metal earlier in the year. The first couple of days of the stay were hampered by the fact that Erk’s luggage got mishandled so this meant that there was not a lot of exploring early in case the luggage showed up. In the end, the luggage did show up and the national capital of Ottawa & surrounding area was explored. Like Erk’s trip to Vancouver in 2009, this was very much an introduction to the Canadian way of life with so much more to be explored at a later time. […]
Welcome to Erk Pod episode 536. Still in London, Erk meets up with various London and English music podcasters for a pub crawl. For Erk, this is a must-do activity while in London – catching up with various friends that he normally can only communicate with online. Good time had by all. […]
Welcome to Erk Pod episode 524. It is the end of this trip with Erk departing Singapore & arriving home in Sydney. It was a lot of fun bringing you along for the ride over 57 days & 5 countries outside Australia. Podcast content was recorded every single day of the 57 day trip with content being uploaded to the internet as an Audioboo message in 5 minute snippets up to 20 or more times a day on most days of the trip. In total, there was content recorded for 73 Erk Pod episodes during the trip, 5 episodes of Erk FM: Metal Monday, 2 episodes of Erk To The Diary Room & around 5 episodes of On The Rails With Erk. In addition, the trip saw the creation of another concept – Erk To The White Courtesy Phone. Erk hopes that you have enjoyed traveling with him & thanks you for listening to Erk’s Pacamerican Circle episodes of Erk Pod. Thanks also must go to the various people who entertained, amused and supplied good times to Erk (as well as a place to sleep in some cases). […]
Welcome to Erk Pod episode 500. It is a milestone episode & 500 doesn’t come around very often. Erk Pod started as a podcast in May 2007. Not that he knew how far he would get with his original podcast (ie Erk Pod), who would have thought that in August 2014, you’d be listening to episode 500 (recorded February 2014).
It was not planned that Erk Pod episode 500 would be recorded in San Luis Obispo with his good friends Shawno & Jen but that is the way it worked out. The three of us met via the interweb & the Erk Pod Round Tables in mid 2008 & met for the first time in person in 2009. Then there were meetings in 2013 & now 2014.
The episode was a long one covering a lot of Erk’s time in SLO but it was a great time hanging out and catching the slightly infamous SLO Transit double decker bus, eating (often) at Dennys, occasionally at Applebees & a lot more.
There are many people who have played a part in Erk Pod – some of you are still here & some of you have gone. But whatever. Regardless of if you read this or not, thank you. […]
Welcome to Erk Pod episode 436! On this episode, Erk has finally arrived in San Luis Obispo, home of the infamous SLO Double Decker bus, the not so infamous SLO Trolley & good friends Shawno & Jen, most recently of the No Market podcast. Erk is making his second visit to SLO. On his first trip in 2009, Erk’s first stop after LA was SLO. On this occasion, SLO is Erk’s last stop before LA & heading home to Australia.
Much of this episode’s content was originally recorded by Shawno as No Market Radio episode 26. It is a good summary of Erk’s time in SLO in particular as well as the trip as a whole. This episode is the spiritual episode 400 of Erk Pod. Ok, it happened as episode 436 but what better way to summarise the trip! […]
Welcome to Erk Pod episode 434 (despite what Erk might say in the episode audio). Still in San Francisco, Erk is looking for a Melbourne tram that is cruising the rails of San Francisco. A trip to the San Francisco Streetcar Museum was very informative & helped Erk find the tram he was after. Or so you’d think…..
If you know Erk well and/or have been listening to Erk Pod for any amount of time, you’ll know that Erk gets easily distracted at times. One of his distractions while hunting for the Melbourne tram was the Go Car. It was supposed to guide Erk around the city but the inbuilt GPS navigation was not working. So what did Erk do? He cruised around, chased cable cars, drove down the crookest street in the world & posed for many photos. Lots of fun! […]
