Erk FM: Australia 400 – Looking Back

Welcome to Erk FM: Australia episode 400! On this episode, Erk takes a look back at arguably the best event that he has been involved in during his time hosting Erk FM – Erkstock! Originally recorded as Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 48, the Erkstock special featured bands that Erk wanted to play for him as a part of a birthday celebration in August 2012.

If Erkstock isn’t enough for episode 400, Erk also talks about the Smokin Mirrors EP launch (finally, you guys!) including the music video for Set To Ignite. You’ll even spot Erk!

For Erkstock, Smokin Mirrors & Vanity Riots opened the event and both bands joined forces for an interview. Smokin Mirrors could almost live at the Valve while for Vanity Riots, it was their penultimate gig with their then current lineup.

Next up was Hard As Nails, this interview was Erk’s first with the entire band. On this occasion, Hard As Nails debuted 2 new songs including one for their hard working roadie Jenn, who also assisted Erk greatly with the running of this event with her new venture Roadie Entertainment.

Cranking things up to 11 for the metal end of the evening were Gutter Tactic who really had a massive mosh pit happening. Foundry Road played their best live version of Safety Dance yet as well as the fastest version of Rise they have ever played.

Erkstock is the perfect way to showcase the work that Erk has been doing with Erk FM & will continue to do. Thank you to all of the bands, all of the PR agencies, venues, promoters & listeners who have supported Erk FM since January 2009. […]

Erk FM: International 399 – Your Waitress Will Be With You Shortly!

Erk To The Diary Room 21 – Disaster Porn At Breakfast

Welcome to Erk To The Diary Room episode 21. Recorded from Erk’s car, Erk shares the TV that he has been watching during the October 2013 bushfires that have burnt around the fringes of Sydney. Erk usually does not watch breakfast TV but due to being on fire duty on nightshifts, breakfast TV was a sign for Erk that it was almost time to go home. Erk talks about what he calls Disaster Porn. There’s also some thoughts about the 2013 series of Big Brother Australia. […]

Erk FM: International 397 – Jellyfish, Jellyfish

Welcome to Erk FM: International episode 397. If you have listened to episodes of Erk FM before where Erk has been at a gig, you know that Erk is a fan of live recordings. Via his various music suppliers, Erk usually does not see live recordings released for airplay.  This episode, however, is different. Not only is it filled with live music but it is also a blast from the past.

Music on this episode was supplied by AirPlay Direct and was recorded live at Bogart’s in Long Beach, California. Jellyfish performed there in 1991 as a part of their tour for their debut album Bellybutton. The band survived 2 albums over 4 years but inspired many bands as a result of their time together.

  • Calling Sarah
  • The King Is Half Undressed
  • I Wanna Stay Home
  • Bye Bye Bye

Erk FM: Metal Monday 111 – Celebraelly Strepped By The Smokin Deli

Welcome to Erk FM: Metal Monday episode 111. On this episode, Erk remembers to play some great hard rock & metal of some local (to him) bands who have just released or have upcoming releases of new material. Erk doesn’t feel very well although at the time of recording, he is quite happy with the way his voice sounds – he blames an interesting source (not mentioning any names, Kimmi from The Metal Deli!). While Erk is name dropping, congrats to Ro from Dark Compass who will record episode 600 this week & celebrate the podcast’s 9th birthday in December!
